Enid Rollins

Enid Rollins

Enid Alexandra Rollins is a character in the Sweet Valley High and Sweet Valley University book series. She was played by Amy Danles in the TV series of the same name.

Sweet Valley High

When Enid was in ninth grade, her parents, David and Adele Rollins, announced they were divorcing. Hurt, she began hanging out with a tough crowd and recreationally using drugs and alcohol. While driving under the influence of bennies, Enid and her boyfriend, George Warren, hit a boy who was playing in the street. The accident convinced Enid to stop the drug use. George was sent to a boarding school.

In sophomore year, Enid took Creative Writing class with Elizabeth Wakefield. Elizabeth's twin Jessica was the one who initially invited Enid to the Wakefield's place and she resented that Enid preferred Elizabeth's company to her own. After that, Jessica was not subtle about her disdain for Enid.

When Enid and Jessica were both nominated for Queen of the Fall Dance, Jessica used Enid's past to sully her reputation, thus making Jessica a shoo-in for the crown. Enid was horrified when her past was made public and initially blamed Elizabeth. However, George Warren returned to Sweet Valley around the same time and the two began dating. Enid and Elizabeth eventually patched things up.

When Amy Sutton came back to California from Connecticut, Enid tried to befriend her. However, a jealous Amy did not want to share Elizabeth and tried (but failed) to drive a wedge between Enid and Liz. Enid and Elizabeth remained friends and Amy became close to Jessica.

When George took flying lessons, he fell for cheerleading co-captain Robin Wilson. After receiving his pilot's license he took Enid for a flight, intending to break things off. However, they were involved in a crash that left Enid temporarily paralyzed. When she recovered, George confessed that he was in love with Robin, leaving Enid devastated. She soon became the girlfriend of a sophmore at Big Mesa High called Huge Jackson and their relationship lasted a long time though they faced many opstacles. She fell for a dangerous guy in Tall,Dark and Deadly.

weet Valley High Senior Year

During Sweet Valley High Senior Year Enid's friendship with Elizabeth dwindled, and the two were not in contact. Enid made an image for herself as a "goth", (which readers will remember shadowed events from a mini-series of the Sweet Valley High book series; Dark Shadows), and we see very little of her. Continuity issues arise here, and we must assume that Elizabeth and Enid regained their friendship before they started Sweet Valley University. It is interesting to see how in both Sweet Valley Senior Year and Sweet Valley University, Enid and Elizabeth's fast friendship seems to fizzle out.

weet Valley University

Tired of living in Elizabeth's shadow, Enid changed her image when she began college, making herself over and using her middle name, Alex. Glamorous Alexandra Rollins has thick, long red curls, 'glows from the inside' and has large, clear green eyes. She is tall with a perfect figure. Much like Amy Sutton, Alex eventually became closer to Jessica than Elizabeth. However, she and Elizabeth patched their relationship up, although they weren't as close as they used to be.
