Aulana L. Peters is a director of
Northrop Grumman , and holds other corporate positions as well. She was formerly the commissioner of theUnited States Securities and Exchange Commission .Peters earned degree in philosophy from the
College of New Rochelle inNew York , and then earned aJuris Doctor from theUniversity of Southern California . Peters joined the law firm ofGibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP inLos Angeles as an associate in 1973. She focused oncommercial litigation , includingclass action suit s and SEC enforcement actions. She became a partner in the firm in 1980, but resigned in 1984 to accept an appointment as the commissioner of the SEC under PresidentRonald Reagan . When Reagan's term ended, so did Peters', and she returned to Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher in 1988, where she remained until her retirement in 2000.In 1999 she was elected to
Northrop Grumman 's board of directors, a position she still holds. She served as a member of the Public Oversight Board of theAmerican Institute of Certified Public Accountants in 2001 and 2002. She was elected to theDeere & Company board of directors in 2002. She is also a director at3M ,Merrill Lynch , and the public television stationKCET . She currently serves on the Accountability Advisory Council of theU.S. Comptroller General , and on the Market Regulatory Advisory Committee of theNew York Stock Exchange .External links
