U2 's eleventh studio album, "How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb ". It became a live staple on theVertigo Tour , and was usually played acoustically during one of the encores near the end of the concert at the tip of the ellipse B-stage. "Yahweh" is about Bono's devotion toChristianity (as the son of a Catholic father and an Anglican mother) and refers to the differences in power between God and mankind. The title "
Yahweh " is an English rendition of theHebrew name forGod . During the "How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb" sessions, an alternate version of "Yahweh" was recorded, featuring additional choruses and a much more drum-oriented beat. This version is available on theiTunes ' exclusive box set, "The Complete U2 ".It was rumored at one point that this song was going to be released as a single (though the nature of the song does not make it a likely candidate to be a single), and a "single mix" of the song circulated among fan-sites for a short time. Apparently, the b-side was going to be an early version of "Vertigo" titled "Full Metal Jacket", but all together the whole concept of this song being a single seems to be a hoax, and the single mix was likely just a fan made mix.Fact|date=April 2007
