Lankesh Patrike

Lankesh Patrike

Lankesh Patrike is a famous weekly tabloid of Karnataka. It is a kannada language tabloid. It was started in 1979 by late P.Lankesh who was also the editor of the paper until his death. After his death His daughter Ms. Gouri Lankesh become successor for Editorship. But in later state because of the ideological diffreneces between his brother Indrajit Lankesh (Who is also a film Director in Kannada Film Industry)the paper divided into Gouri's LANKESH and Lankesh Pathrike of Indrajit Lankesh.

'Lankesh Patrike', which was a purely political tabloid to begin with, could not stay so for long as Lankesh who was a poet, novelist and storywriter at heart wanted a platform to pursue his literary interests as well. Lankesh introduced several columns to provide some literary touch to his otherwise scandal-ridden tabloid. Moreover, in the process of taking against the government in a big way, he had earned the wrath of many book houses and publishers and did not have any other option than using this platform to keep his literary skills alive.

Lankesh elder daughter gauri lankesh started ianother weekly by name Gauri Lankesh patrike keeping the philosophies of P.Lankesh in mind with the senior jouros in her team

Comments

Both the news papers are more criminal in nature, with always highlighting crimes as prior news. Most of time is found to devote time only on commeting, & has attracted criminal cases in Courts in several contexts. Perhaps, this is oldest crime news paper of Karnataka, attracting public & servive only on crime new. Though the news paper is divided, but the ethics has been carried as heritage.
