The father of Gon Freecss, whose absence is Gon's motivation to become a Hunter. Nearly nothing is known about Ging Freecss except that he is a "Double Hunter" (has two stars, see above). According to Kite, Ging already has the qualifications and can easily be a Triple Hunter. He's also very rich and as powerful as a president of a country. All other information about him is classified even in the official Hunters database. President Netero said to Bisuke that Ging is one of the five best Nen users in the world. He is also the main creator of the Greed Island game. For some reason, he wants Gon to meet him alone, claiming that it would be cowardly to bring others with him; this caused one of his friends to wonder if he's afraid of crowds.

Ging is (perhaps not much) older than 32, because he became a Hunter at the age of 12 and then married Gon's mother at age 20. When Gon was a 2 year old kid, Ging gave him to Mito Freecss and asked her to take care of him.

He claims that he doesn't want to see Gon because he is too ashamed of himself for being absent in Gon's life.

Kite (カイト "Kaito"), is the very first Hunter introduced in the story. He is a disciple of Ging Freecss, Gon's father. After saving Gon from a foxbear on Whale Island, Kite revealed to him the truth about his father. Before he took his leave, Kite left Ging's Hunter License in Gon's hands.

After leaving Greed Island, Gon runs into Kite again, while he is in the middle of a zoological survey, searching for new species, in the country of Kakin. At the time, he was leading a team of young would-be Hunters, seven children named Banana Kavaro, Lin Koshi, Monta Yuras, Podungo Lapoy, Spinner Clow, and Stick Dinner.

Only a few weapons have been currently shown, and it seems as long as Kite has not used the materialized weapon in a particular way, it will not disappear. The clown on the Crazy Slots can also talk and comment on Kite's actions and mood.

Kite is killed by Neferpitou, but is soon rebuilt into a manipulated puppet to train the ants. He is later captured by Knuckle and Shoot.

Mito Freecss is Gon's adopted mother, and cousin to Ging Freecss. In the manga Mito did not want Gon to become a Hunter because Ging only came back home once after he took the Hunter's exam. She did not want Gon to leave his family like Ging did. In the manga, Ging is Mito's cousin. However in the HxH novel and anime, Gon's mother was Mito's sister and Ging was her brother in law. Mito was angry with Ging because he left her sister all alone at home and she had to watch her sister look sadly out of the window in hope of her husband returning. Her sister gave birth to Gon and died soon afterwards without seeing her husband ever again. Mito did not want Gon to become a Hunter who did not care about his family like his father. As such, she fights and wins for custody over Gon. However, now that Gon has left, she tries he best to support him in his journey.

Mito is a kind woman that accepts Killua as one of Gon's friends despite learning that he is an assassin, and she feels that people must do everything they can to save another's life. When Gon and Killua found a wounded animal in the forest, Mito slapped Killua for suggesting to kill it and put it out of its misery, and because of this, they came up with the alternate solution of healing it with their nen.

Heavens Arena Fighters

Zushi

Zushi (ズシ "Zushi") is a young boy who studies Shingen-Ryu Kung fu and Nen under the tutelage of Wing, whom Gon and Killua meet in the Heavens Arena. He is a formidable fighter and a prodigy in his own right, said to have skills only 1 out of 100,000 people have. However, he is quickly surpassed by Gon and Killua, who are said to have skills only 1 out of 10,000,000 people have. According to the results of his water divination, Zushi is a Manipulator. Hisoka

Upon reaching the 200th floor of the Heavens Arena, Hisoka reveals that he had followed them there. Hisoka is actually a crowd favorite fighter there, with a perfect record of victories (when he doesn't miss his matches). He prevents Gon and Killua from entering the floor until they have learned Nen, so that they aren't permanently harmed by other floor fighters eager to perform an "initiation" ritual.

Gido

Gido (ギド "Gido"), one of the three fighters that challenge Gon and Killua on the 200th floor of the Heavens Arena, uses nen-charged spinning tops as weapons. He lost his legs during his "initiation" onto the 200th floor, and he gained a steel peg leg that he can use to turn himself into a giant spinning top.

Riehlvelt

Riehlvelt (リールベルト "Rīruberuto") is one of the three fighters that challenge Gon and Killua on the 200th floor of the Heavens Arena. He sits on a wheelchair propelled by his aura and uses two bullwhips as his weapons. The whips can also shock anyone who grabs them with a million volts of electricity.

Sadaso

Sadaso (サダソ "Sadaso") is one of the three fighters that challenge Gon and Killua on the 200th floor of the Heavens Arena. His weapon is an invisible left arm made of Nen, replacing his missing real left arm, which was presumably lost when he was initiated upon reaching the 200th floor. Sadaso kidnaps Zushi to make Gon comply with his demands, namely having Gon forfeit in a match. However, Killua makes a threat against Sadaso's life, frightening him enough to leave Heavens Arena for good.

True Tiger Bite Fist

Kastro (カストロ "Kasutoro") is a prominent and talented fighter in the Heavens Arena. He hangs out on the 200th floor of the Heavens Arena with the intent on building enough wins to become a Floor Master. His only loss was to Hisoka, so he trained rigorously to improve his Nen. After accumulating nine out of the ten required wins to become a Floor Master, he challenges Hisoka to a rematch. [cite book|last=Togashi|first=Yoshihiro|authorlink=Yoshihiro Togashi|title=Hunter × Hunter, Volume 6|year=2006|publisher=Viz Media|chapter=Chapter 052|pages=Pg.148|isbn=978-1-4215-0185-7]

While he is quick out of the gate, delivering Hisoka a few hits without Hisoka knowing what's going on, Hisoka realizes that Kastro has been working in tandem with a doppelgänger created through his Nen. [cite book|last=Togashi|first=Yoshihiro|authorlink=Yoshihiro Togashi|title=Hunter × Hunter, Volume 6|year=2006|publisher=Viz Media|chapter=Chapter 053|pages=Pg.173|isbn=978-1-4215-0185-7] Hisoka then performs an illusion using Nen to throw off Kastro's balance, which makes Kastro just unstable enough to give Hisoka a win. [cite book|last=Togashi|first=Yoshihiro|authorlink=Yoshihiro Togashi|title=Hunter × Hunter, Volume 7|year=2006|publisher=Viz Media|chapter=Chapter 055|pages=Pg.20|isbn=978-1-4215-0332-5]

Kastro's undoing was in the type of ability that he had chosen. Although he was born as an Enhancer, Kastro's ability completely ignored his strengths and used conjuration and manipulation. An Enhancer's maximum ability in these fields is 60% at best, so Kastro would never be able to use his full potential. [cite book|last=Togashi|first=Yoshihiro|authorlink=Yoshihiro Togashi|title=Hunter × Hunter, Volume 7|year=2006|publisher=Viz Media|chapter=Chapter 060|pages=Pg.111|isbn=978-1-4215-0332-5] Furthermore, his conjured double was also flawed in that although Kastro gets dirtied from blows dealt to him, his double remained spotless in combat due to it being merely a reflection of what Kastro saw of himself. Thus making it easy to distinguish between the two.
