- Taste of Chinatown
The Taste of Chinatown is an outdoor
food festival that takes place inManhattan 'sChinatown . The main attraction is the range ofAsian cuisine that is available for only $1 or $2 (USD) per plate. Past tasting plates have featuredpeking duck , summer rolls, roastpork , vegetarian snails,shrimp dumplings,bubble tea ,sushi , etc. On average 50 localrestaurant s, bakeries,tea house s, and specialty food shops participate so there is plenty to choose from.The event was originally created by
Asian Women In Business (AWIB), under The September 11th Fund, as a way to bring business back to Chinatown after the devastation of9/11 . AWIB worked with the Explore Chinatown campaign, now under the oversight of theChinatown Partnership LDC .The first Taste of Chinatown took place on
October 2 ,2004 .The
2006 Taste of Chinatown was on Saturday,April 22 , 2006 from 1-6pm.External links
