- Taste of Chinatown
The Taste of Chinatown is an outdoor
food festivalthat takes place in Manhattan's Chinatown. The main attraction is the range of Asian cuisinethat is available for only $1 or $2 (USD) per plate. Past tasting plates have featured peking duck, summer rolls, roast pork, vegetarian snails, shrimpdumplings, bubble tea, sushi, etc. On average 50 local restaurants, bakeries, tea houses, and specialty food shops participate so there is plenty to choose from.
The event was originally created by
Asian Women In Business(AWIB), under The September 11th Fund, as a way to bring business back to Chinatown after the devastation of 9/11. AWIB worked with the Explore Chinatown campaign, now under the oversight of the Chinatown Partnership LDC.
The first Taste of Chinatown took place on
October 2, 2004.
2006Taste of Chinatown was on Saturday, April 22, 2006 from 1-6pm.
