- Vuti
Vuti is a village in the province of
Mashonaland West ,Zimbabwe . It is located about 60 km north-west ofKaroi and 10 km east of the Charara Safari Area.Vuti is also the name of a legendary Zimbabwean professional hunter (Jon Vuti) who hailed from the Kwe Kwe area in the midlands province. After numerous elephant and lion hunts in the Zambezi valley, he re-located to a deep sea fishing lodge in Mozambique, where he worked for another famous Zimbabwean hunter from the lowveld - Moshe Nichols. It was in Ponto Da Mingo that he shot the first 30kg+ King Fish spear fishing off the Hungawea reef; this fish was a regional record in Vilancoulous for a number of years.
Moving on from Mozambique, Vuti was the first Zimbabwean to climb Island peak (6089m) in Nepal. He was part of an expedition that included Warren 'Warrior' Mills from Durban South Africa, that tackled the high altitude Khumbu valley in late 2004. More information can be found at http://www.vuti.net
