LinuxDoc is an
SGML DTD which is similar toDocBook . It was created byMatt Welsh (computer scientist) and version 1.1 was announced [Announcement [http://www.w3.org/Tools/Linuxdoc-SGML.html "Linuxdoc-SGML v1.1 now available"] byMatt Welsh (computer scientist) 1994-06-07 ] in1994 . It is primarily used by theLinux Documentation Project . The DocBookSGML tag s are often longer than the equivalent LinuxDoc tags [ [http://www.lafn.org/~dave/linux/ld_vs_db.txt "Comparison of DocBook to LinuxDoc (short)"] by David Lawyer, June 23, 2000, revised Mar. 2005] . LinuxDoc has a more succinct DTD than DocBook and users of small to medium size projectswho have found that it suits their purposes better than DocBook.TheDebian distribution ofLinux has a linuxdoc-tools package.See also
