Bass Point

Bass Point

Bass Point (coord|34|35|S|150|54|E [ [http://www.ga.gov.au/bin/gazd01?rec=35068 Bass Point page] at Geoscience Australia] ) is a headland in Australia on the New South Wales south coast.

The point was named by Matthew Flinders in around 1800, after his friend and fellow explorer George Bass. [gutenberg|no=12929|name=A Voyage to Terra Australis by Matthew Flinders]

The waters just off the point are considered a critical habitat for the endangered grey nurse shark, so fishing there is restricted.
