Kvikne is a former municipality in
Hedmark ,Norway and a mountain village betweenØsterdalen andTrøndelag . The riverOrkla begins in Kvikne. Further south the riverTunna descends to meet theGlomma .Kvikne was established as a municipality January 1, 1838 (see
formannskapsdistrikt ). It was split January 1, 1966, with the "Kvikne" village (with 664 residents) incorporated intoTynset municipality inHedmark , and "Innset" village (with 420 residents) incorporated intoRennebu municipality inSør-Trøndelag . The greatest portion of the land became part of Tynset. In 1970 the farm "Garlia" with 5 residents was transferred from Tynset to Rennebu.The famous Norwegian author,
Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson was born on the Bjørgan farm in Kvikne.Vollan gård in Kvikne is the national park center forForollhogna National Park . The farm was the site for filming of the "Secondløitnant" in 1993.The name
