Baldwin Stakes

The Baldwin Stakes is an American Thoroughbred horse race run each year at Santa Anita Park, Arcadia, California, USA. It is open to three year olds willing to race six and a half furlongs on the downhill turf.

The Baldwin is a Grade III event with a purse of $100,000 added.

The race is named for Elias Jackson Baldwin, aka "Lucky" Baldwin, generally considered the father of California thorougbred racing. The Santa Anita racetrack was built on Lucky Baldwin's ranch, but closed after his death due to gambling restrictions. It reopened many years later on Baldwin's estate.
