Franklin-Christoph

The story begins in 1901, when the Franklin family began manufacturing ceramics in Marietta, Georgia, USA. J.W. Franklin and family moved to the area and purchased land with large deposits of clay, perfect for the manufacture of pottery and bricks. For 91 years fine and basic ceramic products were manufactured domestically and imported from Europe by The Franklin Co., with five generations working within the business. To this day, the family still owns land on what is called Franklin Road, now ensconced in the heart of Metro Atlanta.

Recent decades have evolved the company into producers of fine accessories. The tradition of designing, manufacturing and importing quality products has remained throughout the decades. In the year 2001, five generations later, the brand Franklin-Christoph was presented with the IPO Fountain pen.

The New Generation

After the IPO came a line of other unique fine pens and accessories, including The Paradox, The Paradox Sketcher (a large clutch pencil), and The Dara. More recent pieces have included the Japanese Maki-e art piece the IPO Diamondback, which utilizes a Japanese artist to complete the limited edition. This edition truly shows the modern worldwide economy as it contains parts made in Italy, Germany, Japan, and the USA, a tradition of the old Franklin Company. The M-14 Magnet pen utilizes a revolutionary magnet closing and posting system, which has served to add to the storied history of fine writing instruments. The "1901" fountain pen, to be released in 2007 will commemorate this important date in the company history. Future models include the Ballpoint 29, Ballpoint 22, the Paradox Fountain Pen, and the Seven series of pens.
