Haydar al-Kuzbari

Haydar al-Kuzbari is a Syrian military officer and member of "The revolution High commander of army and armed forces."

Kuzbari is a son of well known family which owned lands in Damascus. Historically, the Kuzbari family were scientists and lands owners. Haydar's father is sheik Yaseen Kuzbari.

Haydar Kuzbari joined the new Syrian army after Syria became independent from France. He fought with the Arab army in 1948 in Palestine. During his service in the army he was promoted to major. He works as border protection force Commander.

A union between Syria and Egypt, called the United Arab Republic, was made in 1958. During this Union a lot of mistakes happened. Major Kuzbari and other officers tried to correct the relation between the two countries. However, Egypt refused, so the border protection force, which was near the capital Damascus, was called to the capital on September 28, 1961. They surrounded the defense ministry and forced the Egyptian vice-president to leave Damascus, and they put their tents in Aoumaih square. Many Damascus people and the big families supported this movement because they didn't feel that the union republic treated Syrians in a fair way.

Major Haydar Kuzbari and seven other officers who were in charge of the armed forces in Syria, such as the Air Force, ruled Syria under the name "The revolution High commander of army and armed forces".
