MyNetworkTV -affiliatedtelevision station forBaton Rouge, Louisiana . Its analog transmitter is located near Irene on U.S. 61. Owned byRaycom Media , the station is sister toCBS affiliateWAFB . The two stations share studios on Government Street in downtown Baton Rouge. Due to its Class A status, WBXH does not broadcast a digital signal of its own. Instead, there is a full powerstandard definition digital signal offered on WAFB's forth digital subchannel. This signal broadcasts from WAFB's digital transmitter that is located in downtown Baton Rouge.History
WBXH began broadcasting in
1995 and was owned by the Box LP Group who owned low-power affiliates of The Box music channel across theUnited States . In2001 , it became an affiliate ofMTV2 . The station operated on channel 46 until WAFB signed on its digital signal on the same channel in2002 . This led to WBXH changing to channel 39. The station was purchased by Raycom Media in2003 . Also in that year, WBXH became a UPN affiliate. OnJanuary 24 ,2006 ,The WB andUPN networks announced that they would end broadcasting and merge. The newly combined network would be called The CW. The letters would represent the first initial of its corporate parents: CBS (the parent company of UPN) and theWarner Bros. unit ofTime Warner .On
February 22 ,News Corporation announced that they would start up another new network called MyNetworkTV. This new service, which would be a sister network to Fox, would be operated byFox Television Stations and its syndication division,Twentieth Television .MyNetworkTV was created in order to give UPN and WB stations, not mentioned as becoming CW affiliates, another option besides becoming independent. It was also created to compete against The CW. OnMarch 7 , WBXH was announced as an affiliate of MyNetworkTV along with two other Raycom Media-owned stations. Until theSeptember 5 launch of MyNetworkTV, the UPN branding on WBXH was removed which resulted in the station becoming one of a few non-Fox owned-and-operated UPN stations to do so.Newscasts
