"Herbstosaurus" (meaning "Herbst's lizard") is the name given to a genus of pterosaur. It was first thought to be a "Compsognathus"-like small coelurosaurian dinosaur. "Herbstosaurus" lived during the Jurassic period, in what is now Argentina. The type species, "H. pigmaeus", was described in 1974.
