issues= Saint Bertold of Mount Carmel (also known as Bartoldus of Calabria) was born inLimoges in south westFrance . He went to theHoly Land s as aCrusade r and was inAntioch during its siege by theSaracens . It was around this time had Bertold had a vision ofChrist denouncing the evil ways of the soldiers. Tradition holds that in 1155 he came toMount Carmel and built a small chapel there, gathering a community ofhermits about him living in imitation of the prophetElijah . Bertold died circa 1195, and in the oral history of the Order it is told thatSaint Brocard became his successor as leader of the hermits. This community it traditionally held to have given rise to the Order ofCarmelites .His Catholic feast is on
