Allan R. Wagner

Allan R. Wagner (born 1934 Springfield, Illinois) is the co-author of the influential Rescorla-Wagner model (1972) relating to Pavlovian conditioning and the conditioned response.

He studied at the University of Iowa, initially in chemistry but switching to psychology in his junior year, and receiving his Ph.D. in 1959, and is presently (2006) James Rowland Angell Professor at at Yale University Psychology Department.

A prolific experimenter and theoretician who also authored the Sometimes Opponent Processes Theory (SOP) in 1981, Affective Emotional SOP (AESOP)in 1989 and a Componental Theory of Pavlovian Conditioning in 2001.
