PhotoLicence.com has been established as a stock photography provider since 2000 and was first known as PhotosGratis and held a collection of free stock images. Due to demand for public and/or commercial use of the collection's photographs, PhotoLicence turned its business-model towards commercialization of royalty free photographs.
Today, PhotoLicence is an online photo agency sharing a new business model, the
micropayment model, which was pioneered byiStockphoto ,Dreamstime and others, aimed at the democratization of royalty free stock images.Contributors
PhotoLicence.com is intended for both professional and amateur photographers. Contributor's photographs are scrutinized by administrators who assess their relevance in accordance with PhotoLicence's requirements of quality, resolution, respect of copyright and trademark laws, theme's and relevance.
Purchasing and use
Once approved and according to photographer's preferences, pictures are available for sale with a public/commercial usage license, or a private use only license.
Photographs can be purchased either per unit or through thematic/personalized CD-ROMs. They are immediately usable and downloadable, and the acquired rights cover a wide span.
