University of Da Nang

As a regional multi-disciplinary university, a center for training and research, a center for culture and a terminal for cultural exchange of Central Vietnam, UD has the following missions:

1. Training qualified workers and specialists for various scientific and technological areas with university graduate, post-graduate, and other lower levels

2. Implementing scientific and technological studies in combination with teaching, training, providing scientific information, applying research results to production and life so as to meet the needs of building and developing the country, especially the provinces in Central Vietnam and the Western Highlands.

3. Cooperating closely with domestic and international research centers, institutes and universities and undertaking the responsibility of assisting and upgrading the quality of training and research for the regional universities.

Organizational Structure

The University of Da Nang was established on April 4, 1994 on the rearrangement and reorganization of the former institutes:
*Polytechnic University
*Da Nang Foreign Language Teachers Training College
*Quang Nam Teachers Training College
*Nguyen Van Troi Vocational School

In line with Hue University and Thai Nguyen University, the University of Da Nang is one of three regional universities in Vietnam which have a wide variety of training levels.

By 2007, the University of Da Nang consists of:
* 6 member colleges
#The University of Technology (UT)
#The College of Economics (CEs)
#The College of Foreign Languages (CFL)
#The College of Education (CE)
#The Junior College of Technology (JCT)
#The Junior College of Information Technology (JIT)
* 17 centers for training and upgrading, scientific research promotion and technology transfer
* Journal of Science and Technology

Development Orientation

The University of Danang will continue to consolidate the assets such as laboratories, workshops, libraries; expand the scope and training majors with focus on high technologies, renovating the training curricula, improving teaching methodologies, increasing the quality of training, applying scientific research results to practice to meet the renovation of national economy.The Prime Minister has approved the master plan for the University of Danang including an area of 300 hectares at Hoa Quy-Dien Ngoc, 15 km from Danang City center to the South-east. The preparation work for the construction site and the infrastructure are under implementation.
