- Eures
EURES (EURopean Employment Services) brings together the
European Commission and the publicemployment services of the countries belonging to theEuropean Economic Area andSwitzerland . Other regional and national bodies concerned with employment issues are also included, such astrade union s,employer s' organisations, as well as local and regional authorities. The purpose of the EURES network is to provide services for the benefit of workers and employers as well as any citizen wishing to benefit from the principle of the free movement of persons. This involves three types of service provision: information, advice and
recruitment /placement (job-matching ). In the context of the European employment strategy, the mobility of workers is not only a fundamental right, but also a tool to help the labour market adapt to developments.EURES is playing an increasing role in identifying the surpluses and deficits of
manpower in different sectors, and in overcoming qualification bottlenecks. The network also helps improve employability, particularly that of young people, through the acquisition of professional experience abroad. EURES also contributes to the creation of a common European labour market, as well as, in certain border regions, to the establishment of an integrated regional labour market.References
