Poland .It is situated in the
Podlaskie Voivodeship (since 1999), having previously been inBiałystok Voivodeship (1975-1998) (1975-1998).Its population as of 2004 was estimated at 16,620. It is the site of the one of the largest in Poland sugar--beet sugar plant that has sold its sugar to amongst other places Islamic countries and to the Middle East. At present, the local
sugar beet growers are trying to save the very plant (as of April, 2008).
