Aneesh Raman was CNN's Middle East correspondent based in Cairo. A former Baghdad correspondent, he was brought back to cover the Saddam Hussein execution on December 30, 2006. He was the first Western journalist to announce the execution itself, quoting Arab television.

Before that, he was based in Baghdad. Prior to Baghdad posting, he was based in Bangkok, Thailand. During that time he was one of the first reporters to go live from Phuket, Thailand after the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake. In addition to Iraq and Thailand, Raman has traveled to Iran, Syria, England, Japan, Nicaragua, Cambodia, Singapore, Philippines and Indonesia.

He has also done a number of political stories for a show that used to be on CNN, "Inside Politics" profiling the young generation and their involvement in the American 2004 presidential election. Raman was awarded a local Emmy Award in 1997.

Raman was a Fulbright Scholar after graduating from Harvard College "magna cum laude". He went to Wellesley High School in Wellesley, Massachusetts and graduated in 1997.

In September of 2008, he joined the U.S. presidential campaign of Democrat Barack Obama.
