Krndija is distinguished by its valuable monuments (the church of the BlessedVirgin Mary with the former monastery). There is a beautiful park, protected as a horticultural monument. The famous Kutjevowine cellar holds a wine collection. It was built by theCistercians in 1232 and parts of it have been preserved in their original form, when the famous leader of the Slavonian policemen, Baron Franjo Trenk, even the most renownedHabsburg empress Maria Theresa, used to dwell there. A beautiful manor, connected with the cellars by an underground corridor, is near the cellar complex.The tradition of breeding pure-blood horses, in particular the
Lipizzan ers, dates back to the 19th century. Horse races are held every year.
