John Bradley McKay (June 8 1948 – ) is a politician in New Brunswick, Canada. He was a member of the province's legislative assembly and served as mayor of the city of Miramichi, New Brunswick from 2004 to 2008 [ [http://www.gnb.ca/elections/04mun/04muninfo-e.asp 2004 Municipal Elections, Elections New Brunswick] ] .
He was born in Newcastle, New Brunswick, the son of William John McKay and Elmira F. Scott. McKay was educated at the New Brunswick Teacher's College and the University of New Brunswick. He became a school teacher. McKay married Sandra Murphy. He was mayor of Newcastle from 1986 to 1987. McKay, a Liberal, represented Miramichi-Newcastle from 1978 until 1982 when he was defeated by Progressive Conservative Paul Dawson. He defeated Dawson in 1987 and continued to represent the riding until 1995 when it was abolished. McKay represented Miramichi Centre from 1995 to 1999. He was speaker of the provincial assembly from 1996 to 1997. In 1999, he was defeated by Progressive Conservative Kim Jardine when he ran for reelection.
