=The "Lynx"=
The "Lynx" was built as a blockade runner in Fells Point,
Maryland , by Thomas Kemp. She had a very short privateering career and was captured by the British at the start of her second run from theChesapeake toFrance . She then promptly entered British Naval service as a revenue cutter, was renamed "Mosquidobit", and was stationed inNova Scotia . She was later sent toEngland and her lines were taken off on May 10, 1816.The Modern Day "Lynx"
The current "Lynx" is an interpretation of this vessel and was launched in 2001 in
Rockport, Maine . She was built by Rockport Marine and designed by Melbourne Smith. (Smith also designed the "Californian", the "Pride of Baltimore", the Brig "Niagara", the "Spirit of Massachusetts" and the "Federalist".)
