The 10th Earl of Jersey is the senior recorded heir-general of Mary Tudor, Queen of France, younger daughter of Henry VII of England. If the parliament-sanctioned testament of Henry VIII of England and the succession order there stipulated had been applied, and Anne Stanley, Countess of Castlehaven become Queen in 1603 in place of James I, the present Earl of Jersey would thus be king of England and Ireland (although strict legitimists consider his aunt Lady Caroline Ogilvy to be the true holder of the claim - see Anne Stanley, Countess of Castlehaven).

He is also a second cousin of actor Bart Ruspoli.
