Theophilus Adeleke Akinyele (born
February, 29 , 1932 inIbadan ,Nigeria ) attended the University College Ibadan, (nowUniversity of Ibadan ), where he obtained an honours degree in Classics in 1959. He also studied atOxford University ,University of Connecticut andHarvard Business School where he completed a number of specialized courses. As acivil servant for about 30 years, he served at various times as Permanent Secretary in the Ministries ofAgriculture andFinance of the old Western State of Nigeria. He also served as the Registrar and Secretary to the Council of the University of Ife (nowObafemi Awolowo University),Ile-Ife Nigeria. Akinyele later served as the Secretary to theMilitary Government and Head of theCivil Service ofOyo State and also as the Director of Budget and Special Adviser on Budget Affairs to PresidentShehu Shagari from 1979-1983.Since retiring into the
private sector , Akinyele has been managing his firm of Management and Financial Consultants in Ibadan Nigeria. He is married to Elizabeth Mojoyinola Akinyele, and they have four children. He has written of a number of books in the area of fiscal management and is a member of several international and Nigerianprofessional associations , prominent among which is the Nigerian Economic Society, the African Association for Public Administration and Management, the Society for International Development and the Nigerian National Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), where he served as Chairman of its Economics and Statistics Committee for ten years. He was Chairman, Board of Directors, Nigerian Water Resources Development Company, 1976 - 1978, member of the Nigerian National Planning Commission, is the current Chairman of Ibadan Anglican Diocesan Development Committee and is also presently Chairman, Ona-Are Local Government Area Development Committee. He holds the chieftaincy title of "Bobajiro of Ibadan" and was conferred with national honors in 2000, being made an Officer of the "Order of the Niger" (OON) by PresidentOlusegun Obasanjo .External links
