Louise White is a newsreader on "
Scotland Today ", STV Central's regional news programme for Central Scotland.White usually presents the programme's West news opt-out from Mondays to Wednesdays, job-sharing with
Heather Simpson . She is also the regular anchor for the main Friday programme.After studying on an international scholarship in the
USA , White started her career in local radio at "BBC Radio Highland" (an opt-out of "BBC Radio Scotland ") before joining the main "BBC Radio Scotland" in Glasgow as a producer and reporter. She worked on the flagship breakfast programme "Good Morning Scotland ", the evening news programme "Newsdrive" and chiefly, the early morning news briefing "Daybreak" in the early nineties as a presenter and producer, specialising in business. She later became a main co-presenter of "Good Morning Scotland". She has also worked for Radio Five Live and Radio Four. White then joinedScottish Television (now "STV Central") in 1995.White has covered the Stockline disaster, the G8 summit of world leaders at Gleneagles, as well as the Glasgow International Airport attack for
STV in June 2007. She provided news updates throughout the evening of30 June 2007 , live from the airport. She also reported live for CNN throughout the weekend.On
11 January 2008, she launched "White Not MacKay", a spin-off Friday edition of the popular STV Central video blog, "The Real MacKay".As well as her regional news work for STV, White has produced and presented non news programmes, including a documentary on the decline of religion in Scotland and since 2007, coverage of the Scottish Chambers Orchestra's fireworks concert during the Edinburgh International Festival.
