History

WEFM, Chicago, was the second station in the United States to begin broadcasting in FM stereo on June 1, 1961, when it was owned by the Zenith Radio Corporation, now Zenith Electronics Corporation. The call letters were abandoned by Zenith in 1981, and picked up by Michigan City Broadcasters, Inc. (WMCB Stereo 96) in 1982.

The station's current music format is adult contemporary daytime, oldies overnight, and a mixture of big band/classic pop, polkas, and gospel on the weekends. The station also airs coverage of many high school, college, and pro sporting events daily, and has several talk and news programs, such as the "Jim and Dave Show" featuring Jim Kaiser and Dave Woodson; and "Talk of the Town" with Al Austin and Dennis Metheney.
