Lady's Secret Stakes

Lady's Secret Stakes

The Lady's Secret Stakes (formerly the Lady's Secret Breeders' Cup Handicap) is a race for thoroughbred race horses run at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California during the Oak Tree Racing Association meet each year. The race is open to fillies and mares, age three and up, willing to race one and one-sixteenth miles on the dirt. Beginning in the racing season of 2007, the race was upgraded by the American Graded Stakes Committee from a Grade II event to a Grade I. It offers a purse of $250,000.

Part of the Breeders' Cup Challenge series, the winner of the 2008 Lady's Secret Stakes automatically qualifies for the Breeders' Cup Ladies' Classic. [http://www.breederscup.com/challenge.aspx]

This race is named after the great Hall of Famer, Lady's Secret, the daughter of the immortal Secretariat. In the top 100 U.S. thoroughbred champions of the 20th Century, Lady's Secret is ranked #76.
