The Consultative Assembly (Majlis al-Shura) has 83 elected members and it's the legislature of Oman. However, the monarch makes final selections and can negate election results. Oman doesn't allow political parties. Only non-partisans have been elected. The other chamber is the Council of State (Majlis al-Dawla).

On March 13, 2011, Sultan Qaboos issued a decree granting legislative and oversight powers to the parliament.[1]
