Gil Island (Canada)

Gil Island is an island in British Columbia, Canada, located in the Hecate Strait between Pitt Island and Princess Royal Island. It is 26 km (16 mi) long, with a width ranging from 6 to 13 km (4 to 8 mi), and an area of 231 km² (89 sq mi). It is located within the Kitimat-Stikine Regional District.

The M/V Queen of the North was a Canadian RORO ferry operated by BC Ferries, which sank on March 22,2006 after hitting [http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=53%C2%B0+12%27++%09-129%C2%B0+14%27&t=k&ll=53.229057,-129.232178&spn=0.685601,2.768555 Gil Island.]
