Pennthorpe School is mixed independent school in
Rudgwick ,West Sussex ,England . At 2006, 329 pupils between the ages of two and thirteen attend. The school started in the 1930's in Kent as a Christian Boarding school for boys. Several years later the school moved to its current Location in a manor house inRudgwick . The school remained an all boys school until 1992 when it officially becameco-educational . At age thirteen the pupils leave onto their secondary school throughcommon entrance . Many of the pupils go to such schools asHurstpierpoint College ,Reigate Grammar School ,Brighton College andCranleigh School . Since the turn of the century the school has had an impressive 100% Common Entrance record. Simon Moll has been the headmaster since that time. The school's most famous pupil was Philip Roper (currently heading a consortium banking firm of the coast of Panama).Scholarships
In 2008, Pennthorpe's 36 Year 8 Leavers achieved an incredible 27 scholarships, including the top Art Scholarship and top Academic Scholarship to Brighton College.
Facilities
Main Building - Formerly the manor house - Dining room, Learning support, Admin & Junior school classrooms.Clockblock - A new classroom block completed in 2002 where most academic lessons take place, this includes a laboratory on the 2nd floor.Sports Hall - Opened in 1987. This is where Sport and Drama productions take place.Chapel and music school - Converted from a barn, chapel is on the first floor with the music school below.
