Lydia Makhubu

Lydia Makhubu (born 1927) is a Swaziland chemist. The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Swaziland from 1988 to 2003, she is the first Swazi woman to earn a doctorate; she attended the University of Toronto and studied medicinal chemistry.

From its inception in 1993 until 2005, she was the President of the Third World Organization for Women in Science (TWOWS), which provides fellowships for postgraduate study.
