The Lombardy Hotel located at 111 East 56th Street (between
Park Avenue andLexington Avenue inNew York City . Built in the 1920s byWilliam Randolph Hearst for his mistress, silent film starMarion Davies , The Lombardy has been the New York residence of film stars likeElizabeth Taylor andRichard Burton . Currently, the building still feels like a grand New York apartment house. The apartments are individually owned and decorated co-ops, mostly by wealthy non-US citizens.The hotel was renovated in 1996, at which time the front lobby was decorated by
Robert Denning , whose firm, Denning & Fourcade, maintains offices in the building. Several years earlier, Denning had redecorated the house restaurant.There are 45 one-bedroom suites, with marble bathrooms and entrances, and some studios available in addition to the apartments where the owners are in permanent residence.
