Royds School, founded in 1956, is a school serving approximately 1300 pupils in Leeds. The school was originally a Secondary Modern and is now a non-selective comprehensive serving Rothwell, South Leeds, and the surrounding areas. Since 2000, the school has provided post-16 education with its sister school Rodillian and the local college. The school gained Specialist Language College status in 2003. Royds is a designated Language College which encourages pupils to not only learn languages but to understand the cultures of others.
