Bob Kohn

Bob Kohn currently serves as founder, Chairman & CEO of RoyaltyShare, Inc., an outsourced royalty processing solution for the music, book publishing, brand licensing, and motion picture industries [cite web|title=William Morris Invests in Online Royalities Firm RoyaltyShare|url=http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/08/12/AR2008081200909.html|work=Washington Post|date=2008-08-12|accessdate=2008-08-25] .

Until recently, Kohn served as Vice Chairman of the Board of Borland Software Corporation where he previously served as senior vice president and general counsel. He also serves as Chairman of Laugh.com, a comedy record company he founded with comedian George Carlin.

In 1998, Kohn co-founded EMusic [cite web|title=Form S-1/A for Emusic.com|url=http://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1065013/0001012870-99-002657.txt|work=eMusic|date=1999-08-09|accessdate=2008-08-25] , the pioneering MP3 music-download service. EMusic sold its first downloadable music file for 99 cents on July 23, 1998. Once listed on NASDAQ under the symbol EMUS, the company was acquired in 2001 by Universal Music Group [cite web|title=Universal acquires Emusic for $24.6M|url=http://www.computerworld.com.au/index.php/id;1537072955|work=Computerworld|date=2001-10-04|accessdate=2008-08-25] .

Prior to EMusic, Kohn served as vice president of business development and general counsel for Pretty Good Privacy, Inc., the developer of the controversial PGP encryption software [cite web|title=RSA suit against PGP back on track|url=http://news.cnet.com/RSA-suit-against-PGP-back-on-track/2100-1023_3-202900.html|work=CNet News.com|date=1997-09-02|accessdate=2008-08-25] ; senior vice president of corporate affairs and general counsel of Borland International, Inc.; associate general counsel of Candle Corporation, a mainframe software company; corporate counsel for Ashton-Tate, a personal computer software company, later acquired by Borland; and associate attorney at the law offices of Milton A. "Mickey" Rudin, an entertainment law firm.

Kohn served as associate editor (and is currently on the advisory board) of the Entertainment Law Reporter, a professional publication that provides monthly updates on legal developments affecting the entertainment industry. He has appeared as a media commentator on "The O'Reilly Factor", "Scarborough Country", and other cable tv news programs.
