Faridkot district is one of the twenty districts in the state of Punjab in North-West
India . According to Punjab's Geo-Area, Faridkot is a "Malwa" District. It is one of the biggest cotton markets in South-East Asia. The name 'Faridkot' is derived from Baba Farid, a god-lover who wanted see the God. Faridkot was feudlist province under British rule , but now it is a district in Punjab in independent India.Overview

North India's only Medical University, also named after Baba Farid is in Faridkot besides Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges.

Faridkot city is the headquarters of the Faridkot district. It is nearly same size of
Bathinda (City). One of the popular religious centres of Faridkot is Baba-Farid's Gurudwara. It is also home to Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital, which has its graduates scattered all over India and abroad. Every year it hosts annual Baba Farid Mela. Mantar Singh Brar was elected MLA from Kotkapura constituency for two consecutive terms.
now-a-days many brillient students are moved to abroad for higher studies and the one of most well known cotton spinning mill is located in this famous village. More than 6000 peple are earning their livings from this factory.
