- Talpa (band)
Talpa is the
pseudonym of Goran Juric, a SerbianPsychedelic trance artist. The first of his works appeared as single tracks on compilation albums, notably his tracks "Mandragor" and "Kalashari" which were featured on the "Vibraspirit 23" compilation released by Sundance Records in 2002, and "Talpania" on the "Sundaze" compilation, also released by Sundance Records in 2002. After two years of no releases, his first album was released in 2004 entitled "The Art of Being Non".History
Talpa first delved into music production in 1999. His first commercially available tracks were published in 2002 by the small
Australian records company Sundance Records. It is believed that after the release of these tracks, Talpa reached an agreement with the record label for the production of his first album. The album was released in October 2004 entitled "The Art of Being Non". The album which contains some unique and incredible music unlike most psytrance music released his name into thePsytrance scene where it received mixed reviews. Deep kickdrums and basslines dominate the album and some bizarre vocal sampling. Talpa then went on to perform live atPsytrance venues, where his melodic stylings were received with fervor.Discography
His album, The Art of Being Non, is a melodic
psychedelic trance album, which in itself is out of norm for thepsytrance scene. The album focuses on a much more euphoric feel than the majority of the artists in the scene. With deep, grooving, melodic basslines and fast paced melodies that harmonise with each other, the album is an effort that is quite rare for its genre. It features 10 tracks of varying themes and styles, where Talpa employs not only the modern feel ofpsytrance but also his own unique element that give some of his tracks a balkan feel (notably "First Ray of Light" and "Back to Dreaming").His earlier tracks are featured on compilation albums.
Drasticly changed his music style after his first album. In 2007 he was featured on a few compilations called "Ultrapop 2" and "Twist dreams". The tracks "Miss Ivon" and "Til we meet again" showed a brand new and very exciting side of this artist. Miss Ivon for example is a track is that has a combination of funk, jazz, electro and psytrance, mixed into something brand new. Also a track that's called "Trip on the box" started to float around the net. This is also a track that has no genre, but sounds really refreshing.
Will release his second album "When the somberness becomes a game" sometime in 2008.
