- Syed Kashif Raza
Syed Kashif Raza (Urdu: سيد کاشف رضا born
10 May ,1973 ) is a poet, writer, journalist, translator and broadcaster. He has published one volume of his
Urdu poetry. The name of his book is "Muhabbat ka Mahall-e-Wuqoo" (Urdu: محبت کا محل وقوع).According to
Dawn , Pakistan's most notable English newspaper, ‘Mohabbat ka Mahalle-Waqoo’ carries hisghazals , free verses andprose poems; all three in a delicate balance to show his command over poetic language.Kashif Raza's poetry is unique for both its form and content. He is one of the young poets who have broken away with the tradition of expressing platonic love and the lyricist idealism. He has portrayed sensual themes in a way very different from the classical Urdu poetry. The complexities of psycological, physical, economic and political realities intertwine in his poems to make new organic wholes. His political commitments are also very clear. An avowed democrat, he abhores the dictatorial rule in his country, Pakistan. He has also written poems against the U.S. invasion of Iraq and has translated two books of U.S. thinker and activist Noam Chomsky into Urdu. These are "Dehshatgardi ki Siqafat" (Urdu: دہشت گردی کی ثقافت). a translation of Chomsky's selected articles and "Giyara Sitambar" (Urdu: گیارہ ستمبر)a translation of his book "9/11".
