A Groovy Kind of Love

A Groovy Kind of Love

"A Groovy Kind of Love" is a pop song written by Toni Wine and Carole Bayer Sager. It is heavily based on the Rondo movement of Sonatina in G major, op. 36 no. 5 by Muzio Clementi.

The song was released first by Diane & Annita in 1965. The same year, The Mindbenders released it as their debut single. In 1988, Phil Collins covered the song for the movie "Buster". The Mindbenders' version reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100 and on the UK Singles Chart; Collins's version went one better, hitting #1 in both the U.S. and UK charts.cite book |title= Rock N' Roll Gold Rush |last= Dean |first= Maury |authorlink= Maury Dean |coauthors= |year= 2003 |publisher= Algora |location= |isbn= 0-87586-207-1 |pages= p.60 |url= ] It was also the only solo hit for Les Gray (lead vocalist with Mud). His version made it to #34 in the UK in 1977.cite web |url=http://www.everyhit.com |title=everyhit.com search results for "A Groovy Kind of Love" |accessdate=2008-03-21]
