St. David's School (Raleigh, North Carolina)

St. David's School is an independent Episcopal K-12 school in Raleigh, North Carolina that states its mission as "preparing young men and women for college and life, by providing challenging opportunities to excel in the vital areas of 'faith, virtue, and knowledge.'"

Founded in 1972 as Hale High School, the school graduated its first class in 1973. In the fall of 1990, St. Timothy's Middle School, grades 6-8, was added to the existing White Oak Road campus. By the end of the school year, the Board of Trustees voted to combine Hale High School and St. Timothy's Middle School, resulting in the emergence of St. Timothy's-Hale School.

With the addition of the fifth grade in 1994, the school encompassed grades 5-12. In November 2002, the Board voted to add grades K-4 for the fall of 2003. In the spring of 2003, the school was renamed St. David's School and was expanded to include all grades, K-12, on the same campus. By the 2007-2008 school year, enrollment at St. David's stood at about 540 students.

In the 2006-2007 school year, St. David's School won the Varsity Football, JV Football, and Varsity Soccer state championships, and the Tennis team placed third overall with the help of state champions Will Sinden and Torre McLain and runner-up Owen Stone.

The Varsity Football team has been a success due to the coaching of Wes Wilder, who has led the team into many victories. Their winning streak of 19 consecutive games continued into late 2007.

The St. David's basketball program could be the most entertaining sport at this time. In the 2007-08 season, both the boys and girls varsity team made it to the final four in the state tournament. This year after only losing two players, the boys basketball team is looking for their state championship rings. The team is lead by four seniors Josh Seligson, Gabe Rooth, Rhodes Hunt, and Chandler Huggins. They also have two returning juniors who should contribute greatly, Anthony Thomas and Forrest Brandt.

St. David's, a member of the North Carolina Independent School Athletic Association (NCISAA), offers 42 boys' and girls' middle school, junior varsity, and varsity interscholastic athletic teams. St. David's is also a member the Eastern Plains Independent Conference (EPIC), which includes Fayetteville Academy, Fayetteville Christian School, Arendell-Parrott Academy (Kinston), Cape Fear Academy (Wilmington), and Harrells Christian Academy (Harrells).
