51st Regiment of Foot

Three regiments of the British Army have been numbered the 51st Regiment of Foot:

*William Hanmer's Regiment of Marines, numbered as 51st Foot in 1747
*51st Regiment of Foot (Cape Breton Regiment), raised in 1754.
*51st (2nd Yorkshire West Riding) Regiment of Foot, raised as the 53rd and renumbered in 1756.

Note also:

*51st Highland Regiment, a Territorial Army regiment formed in 1999
