Elworth, Cheshire is a village and a suburb of Sandbach, approximately one mile to the east. Elworth has a church, several pubs and a few shops. It also has the railway station serving Sandbach and is on the railway line between Crewe and Manchester. There is a canal running to the southwest of the village. It has an industrial past and was the home of Foden's the lorry makers. The church was designed by George Gilbert Scott, who also designed St Pancras railway station in London. The main sport in Elworth is cricket. Elworth Cricket Club play in Division One of the North Staffs & South Cheshire Cricket league. The thriving junior section is recognised locally as one of the best in Cheshire. The club has recently achieved Clubmark and Focus Club status and has strong links with all the local schools.Also Elworth has a sunday league football team based at the fox pub,they now play in the Crewe regional premier league,having gained promotion by winning the league last season 2007-2008.
