The Fawcett Society is an organization in the
United Kingdom which promotesfeminism and campaigns for women's rights.It is a charity registered with the
Charity Commission . It grew out of thesuffragist movement of the second half of the 19th century, and in 1953 was renamed the Fawcett Society, in honour of founderMillicent Fawcett who led the peaceful suffragist movement.The organisation states that it campaigns on "women’s representation in politics and public life; pay, pensions and poverty; valuing caring work; and the treatment of women in the justice system". The library and archives of the Society, formerly the Fawcett Library, are now part of the
