Shawa is a village located in the
Lower Dir District ,Malakand region,North-West Frontier Province ,Pakistan . Shawa is located on the road betweenChakdara andAsbanr . The village is 5 km away fromChakdara city, which is located near Churchill Piquet on the banks of theSwat River . The population of Shawa is about 10,000 and consists of primarilyPashtun people (Pathans) speaking thePashto language .Etymology
There are multiple theories about the source of the village name. According to one, "Shawa" is a Hindu woman's name; an alternate theory suggests that Shawa is the name of the trees which can be seen in the village.Shawa is located near SWAT region, which is also called the switezirland of Pakistan.It is a calm and quit village or a small town located in the middle of high mountains.
Geography
The rainfall in Shawa is very limited and agriculture requires the use of artificial irrigation. The climate is mild in the summer to moderately cold in the winters. High mountains, rich in underexploited mineral resources, surround the village.
