- Gitanae
Gitanae, a town of Epirus, described by
Livy as being nearCorcyra , and about 10 miles from the coast. (Liv. xlii. 38.) It is not mentioned by any other ancient writer, and it has therefore been conjectured that the word is a corrupt form ofChyton , whichEphorus spoke of as a place in Epirus colonised byIonians from Klazomenai.
