History

Chairman and CEO Andrew J. McKelvey founded Telephone Marketing Programs (TMP) in 1967. TMP began focusing on the niche market of U.S. Yellow Pages advertising sales and grew to become the world's largest Yellow Pages agency, a distinction the company's Directional Marketing division still holds today.

Seeking ways to expand its expertise, TMP entered into the recruitment advertising business in 1993 through strategic acquisitions. TMP Advertising & Communications quickly earned its place among the top recruitment advertising firms by offering comprehensive human capital solutions and through its reputation as an early adopter of interactive technology.

In 1995, through the acquisition of Adion, operator of the "Monster Board", TMP Worldwide would acquire the company that would eventually eclipse itself. Eleven years later, in the summer of 2006, Monster Worldwide announced the spin-off of the Advertising & Communications division in North America [ [http://phx.corporate-ir.net/phoenix.zhtml?c=131001&p=irol-newsArticle&ID=901057&highlight= Monster Worldwide Announces Sale of TMP Worldwide Advertising & Communications Business in North America 08-31-2006] ] . The new company would be formally known as TMP Worldwide Advertising & Communications (TMPW).
