Strait Shipping

Strait Shipping Limited is a New Zealand shipping firm operating between Wellington in the lower North Island and Picton (passengers and freight) and Nelson (freight only) in the upper South Island. The firm was founded in 1992 to compete with the Interisland Line, owned by the then state-owned enterprise New Zealand Rail Limited. The company currently operates the passenger roll on / roll off ferry "Santa Regina" under the "Bluebridge" brand, with "Monte Stello" due to enter service in late 2006, and the freight-only "Kent".
