Sandbach inCheshire ,England . The station is 8 km (4¾ miles) north east of Crewe on theCrewe to Manchester Line .Although the station is called "Sandbach railway station", the actual location of the station is on the A533 road from Sandbach to
Middlewich andNorthwich in the local residential suburb ofElworth .Sandbach was a double junction on the
LNWR and laterLondon Midland and Scottish Railway line fromCrewe toManchester . For many years, Sandbach was a junction for the single line branch to Middlewich andNorthwich railway station , which carried a heavy freight traffic but which closed for passenger service in the 1950's. Even earlier, theNorth Staffordshire Railway branch from Kidsgrove to Sandbach ceased passenger service in the 1930's and closed for freight traffic in the 1960's.ervices
On Monday to Saturday during the daytime there are two trains per hour to Crewe southbound and two per hour to
Manchester Piccadilly northbound. One journey goes via Stockport and the other via Manchester Airport. There is an hourly service during the evening in each direction via Stockport.On Sundays there is a two-hourly service in each direction (via Manchester Airport to Manchester Piccadilly northbound.)
